Change (part 2) - NYE 22!
(It’s been a year! One year ago on January 1, 2022 I published my first blog…I had resisted making my writings public for as long as I could. It was, unfortunately, just after midnight before I pushed “publish,” so it’s dated 1/2/22. Oh well! Here’s to finishing off the year right. God bless you! Hope you’ve enjoyed them.)
Let go! Let go of the way things are. Or were. Or almost were. Or never quite were. Quit trying to make the world revolve around your plans. What good is control of your crumbling world anyway? Open your hands for something much, much better.
You with me?
Behold the invisible world, even though you can not yet see it. Nor hold it. Nor can you own or control it. Being admitted entrance, even at its outermost gates, is all you seek. You are! Take it. Go in. Accept the invitation. Enter. This is what you have been seeking. This is it!
This is 2023.
Your creative seedbed is here. In this world. Plant your ideas. Put your hands in the soil. Let the silky, dark earth slip through your fingers. This is it. This is what you have been waiting for. The chance you have been seeking. Take it. Sow your deepest hopes. And trust.
Remember: that which you plant here will have a life of its own. It will live and breath. It will require of you in order to survive. It will take great sacrifice. Yet there is no alternative worth pursuing. There is no greater life. This IS what you seek. This IS the treasure found.
Let go of all else. It won’t make sense. Will this even pan out? Will this turn into what we are hoping? Wrong question. You are hoping in outcomes. Imagining lifestyles. Don’t work up a vision. It does not come on demand. A vision worth having is gift, it does not belong to us.
It belongs to another realm. A realm where we are not permitted residence. Only short visits. But what we find there, even in seconds, is worth everything it takes to get there! Everything.
We come back from there with vision, not of a completed work, but with a strange confidence. We have what we need, and trust what we received.
We are not given blueprints, at least not exactly. We are given a swirling of melodies. We are not given the masterpiece. But we are given the seedlings of it. A big idea. One worth doing. One that will take everything. One that won’t completely come together this side of the grave.
Or will it? Perhaps that is the rub, the push, the tension. We don’t know what can happen. We have no idea how far we can go. In this other realm, there are no limits. Only possibilities. Imagination rules here. There is no end to this world. Only faith.
Sooner or later we realize that what we find there is akin to Gospel. It is the pearl of great price. The hidden treasure. The thing that changes everything else. Pursuing it is part of our unique journey, our secret language with the One thing needed, indeed our calling.
It is gift. We simply receive.
There is nothing about it we totally grasp. There is no complete picture. Only pieces of a puzzle — a dream-like vision of an end scene. It is compelling though. Deeply. We can’t even articulate why. Not at first. But we know it is good, really good.
And persistent. It just won’t go away.
The preview we are given is more than enough to keep us coming back. To fuel our endeavor, to put the pieces together. To fight. We have what we need. And we will have what we need. In that place and somewhere within us. Already there. Already latent and ready.
Our job is discovery. Listening. Digging through the many layers to get down to the real thing. The thing we found. There is the power. Even the glory. All the hope we have been looking for. Contained in that single seed. Waiting to be planted.
Receive that gift Today. Happy New Year’s! This is our year!
