You are on the fence. Not sure about pursuing a particular creative thing. But you have something! It seems deeply implanted in you. Something you care more about than you care to admit. But you are just not sure what to do with it. Does it really have the potential to turn into something?
Thinking about it can make you mad. Why do you have a vision for something that seems so unattainable? Is it possible to de-root this vision? Perhaps if we cut it out right away it won’t hurt as bad? Perhaps it is not really integral to who we are?
But we can’t seem to shake it.
Most, to cope, will simply bring the vision down to a place where it is much more attainable. Much easier to reach. Leave out the parts that make it too hard. Or scary.
But you know the truth! And we must learn to love the truth.
Only there in the truth we find the good tension we need.
Part of that tension is admitting that we are not where we want to be. We are not there yet. We have dreams in our hearts that have not been realized. In staring down this current state, we can fix our eyes toward where we have always wanted to go.
First we confess our disappointment. We admit it. We own it. Then we can see again.
Do you want something? Is there some dream inside you that won’t go away? Are you simply afraid? Unsure about how it could possibly work? Or what it will cost? That’s a great place to start. Admit it. Verbalize it into the universe. Let it be known that you want something!
And that you are unsure about how to make it happen. If certainty were a requirement for action, nothing would ever get done. When we learn to act in spite of uncertainty we begin to take part in the original creative process that is still going on today.
Faith is from the very beginning. Seeing something before it is. Speaking it into existence. Imagination. The creative Spirit. The will to believe. To dream. To create. We join the whole of creation (yes even our own createdness) when we allow the process to take place in us.
To speak into existence what we see inside ourselves. That is the act of power, of true volition. The will to live out of our createdness. Not in rebellion against our nature, but choosing to live in it, within our created limits. Only there do we find the spark suited for us and only for us.
This is where we start! Right here. Right now. Inside this very moment. Today. Here. We say yes. We accept the challenge of our giftedness. We accept our calling. We accept the fact that we are called to use our gifts. For good. Indeed! It starts with me.
