It’s time to Grow (New Day, pt 3)

The thrill of finding something or creating something new is hard to exaggerate.  There is nothing like tracking down an idea.  A melody.  A group of colors.  Yeah, in the end, it may appear like other things, but it was actually born inside us.  Divine original.

Cathartic, expressive output.

We are literally birthing something that has never been seen before (including by us).  We don’t know what is coming.  That is thrilling.  Especially when it has the stamp of another world.  When it smells of eternity.  When it reminds us that somehow everything is connected.

Like a new infant or a puppy, you never really know what you have.  The personality that is etched into this living being is already in there.  You can see small signs of it early on.  But you really don’t know what you have.  Part of life is seeing that child evolve into itself.

So our creations have their own life too.  And agenda.  They are not ours to keep.  But to give away.  To put into the universe.  To shoot out like arrows into the sky.  What will become of them we may not ever even know.  But we pray they bring hope, power, and life.

Our creations are their own end in that sense.  They justify themselves.  Though they don’t always pay for themselves.  But even that is debatable.  For how do we measure value?  And if they bring life, energy, inspiration, etc, have they not already paid us more than enough?

It’s a strange exercise to think about what our ideas and inspirations cost us.  Certainly the time and energy to properly allow them entrance.  Focus.  Clarifying work.  All without guarantees.  We can not be sure what value they will bring others.

And we do not need to know!

Inspired creations are self-justifying.  That’s the beauty about inspiration: it does not need outside approval or accreditation.  It is self-evident.  Has it’s own reason. its own logic.  Its own future.  In the seed is the orchard.  It’s already there.  Just let nature take its course.

Sounds easy enough, but letting nature work takes a lot of un-learning effort on our part.  We have been overwhelmed with images and narratives of hard work, self will, and making our own way.  We have forgotten how to let nature work for us.  In us.  Around us.

Things work best inside out.

Think of the natural universe.  Think of the seeds under protected layers of skin and flesh.  Hidden deep in the being-ness of things.  Hidden there from the beginning.  For a purpose.  For a purpose beyond our own.  Self-contained there.

And hidden.  We do not know exactly what is in the seed.  Sure, we can know its basic “kind,” or function.  But within that, there are so many nuances and unique purposes we do not know.  There is no other seed like this seed.  Not in the whole entire world.  It’s time to grow.

That’s what seeds do.  That’s what they want to do.  They want to grow.  And the fledgling plants want to grow.  They crave life.  They reach for the sun.  They absorb oxygen.  They drink water.  It’s amazing.  All the features for life come equipped in the tiny seed itself.

Now simply grow.
